It's no secret that Chris Jericho wanted to get out of WCW in 1999. Sick and tired of being overlooked by those in charge, he also longed to work for a company he viewed as the tippy-top. To him, the WWF was the place to be and, although he was right, the fact remains that World Championship Wrestling was where Y2J cut his teeth.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the WWF made Jericho. They turned him into a bigger star, sure, but he would have surely become that in Atlanta had WCW been willing to push new names into the main event scene. Besides, it's not as if Jericho's lot under Eric Bischoff was dreadful.

For a spell between 1998-99 before leaving for greener pastures, Jericho was one of WCW's most over performers.

Fans were starting to dig his bratty rockstar character, and his promos were a regular highlight on Nitro when he was given the platform to talk. A lot of the hallmarks of Y2J's wildly popular WWF character were first seen in WCW.
