8. Cage Match Controversy
You could be forgiven for forgetting the New Age Outlaws' comeback of 2013 and 2014, but for now, let's go back to their cage match with the Rhodes Brothers.
After fifteen minutes of non-action, Cody stood atop the cage. Facing the hard camera, a smile crept across his face. Leaping into the air and jumping backwards, Rhodes executed a picture-perfect moonsault... that Road Dogg didn't even come close to catching.
Billy Gunn then snuck in and hit a Fameasser for the pin and the Tag Team Titles.
Now, there are a couple of different ways to look at this. Could Road Dogg really have caught Cody, considering the speed he was travelling? Or was Road Dogg in the wrong position and not looking out for his opponent's well-being? It's almost certainly the former, but that didn't stop the speculation.
Sites reported afterwards that there was heat on Road Dogg for failing the catch. These reports turned out to be false and other wrestlers took to defend the accused. Respected ring vet Lance Storm, being serious for a minute, took to Twitter and said:
Anyone bitching about Road Dog not catching Cody is an idiot. Almost impossible catch. He takes Cody's knees in the head, he's dead....cont
