10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Cody Rhodes

4. Cody's Rant At Mexicans

Cody Rhodes got the internet talking with a promo he cut during a WWE house show on Boxing Day 2010 at Chicago's Allstate Arena.

Grabbing the microphone before his match with Chavo Guerrero, Rhodes ragged on the fans for being ugly, and even ripped poor old ringer announcer Howard Finkel, before going on to say that he 'hates Mexicans'. In front of a crowd that was, according to reports, largely Mexican.

Ugh.

Granted, this was well over a decade ago and quite obviously in character. It's almost certainly something that Cody himself regrets as well. But this ill-advised attempt at drawing cheap heat from the audience should never have left Rhodes' mouth, particularly in a promotion that was already more than two years into its life as a PG production.

That Cody at least lost to Chavo afterwards is something of a saving grace, but there aren't many ways of generating heat as artless as this. Rhodes knows better today, he likely knew better back then, and if you gave him and WWE the choice, they'd likely have the footage scrubbed from the internet.
