He warmed our hearts with his cavalier approach, introduced the world to The Shield, held the US Title for almost a full year, became WWE Champion, captured the IC and Tag Titles and won the 'Trending Now (Hashtag) of the Year' Slammy Award in 2013.

Maybe you'd forgotten about that one.

Through it all, Dean Ambrose worked a character that skirted somewhere between Brian Pillman's 'Loose Cannon' and a comedy act nobody asked for. In The Shield, he was bad ass. Out of it, Ambrose was part Pillman and part Will Ferrell, and fans either loved or loathed his goofy approach to top feuds against Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho or AJ Styles.

It's probably the latter 'wacky' attitude that belongs here on a list of things WWE would want you to forget about the man. It certainly did little to sell Ambrose as a genuine threat at times, and it's why he'll be breathing a sigh of relief now he's back on the indy market. For the first time in years, Jon Moxley can do things on his own terms.

"On his own terms". Now, isn't that an interesting idea?
