Eddie Guerrero versus Rey Mysterio was one of those feuds that seemed hard to screw up. For the first few months of the feud, things went swimmingly: they started off with a sporting rivalry, then Eddie became annoyed as losing to his friend and turned on him in a great angle. The resultant matches were amongst the best of the year. Unfortunately, in an effort to prolong the dispute, WWE added a rather unsavoury element: they brought Rey and Eddie's families into the mix and Eddie claimed that he had a secret about Rey's son, Dominik, that he would tell the world if Rey failed to beat him at the Great American Bash. Mysterio won, but Eddie told anyway (never trust a man who openly brags about lying, cheating and stealing): he, not Rey, was Dominik's biological father. We'll wait while you collect your jaw from the floor. Done? OK. While it was meant to be an earth-shattering revelation, most wrestling fans just rolled their eyes. The subsequent weeks of television segments involving custody lawyers and the silly 'winner gets custody of Dominik ladder match' at SummerSlam, blighted what had the potential to be the feud of the year. WWE even released an Eddie Guerrero 'I'm Your Papi!' t-shirt to commemorate this ridiculous storyline. They don't sell those on WWEShop.com any more, in case you were wondering...
