10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Goldust

3. His Non-Match With Warrior

Recent, posthumous allegations brought against Ultimate Warrior make the sight of him basically encouraging the crowd to chant homophobic slurs at Goldust an even more uncomfortable one than it was for any right-thinking wrestling fans at the time.

That, however, is only part of the reason The Bizarre One's In Your House clash with the former WWE Champion in 1996 is one the company would probably rather forget about. The other part is to do with what an appallingly bad spectacle it was (not that the audience, given the aforementioned behaviour, really deserved anything more).

The record books show that this lasted seven and a half minutes, which is perhaps a little towards the low side for an Intercontinental Championship pay-per-view match, but actually quite generous by the standards of Warrior, who months earlier put a young Triple H away inside two minutes.

In reality, it was done and dusted in a few seconds. Goldust spent the rest of the time either stalling outside the ring or watching his illustrious opponent threaten to destroy the robe and chair he'd just commandeered. The very second a punch was thrown - Warrior's - he made off up the entrance ramp, immediately getting counted out as a result.
