10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About JBL

4. Beating Up The Blue Meanie

One of JBL's most infamous acts of bullying came at One Night Stand 2005, ECW's reunion Pay-Per-View. Prior to the show, ECW alumni and WWE stars had been hyping the show by taking verbal shots at each other online, and part of that involved The Blue Meanie insulting JBL, the de facto leader of WWE's anti-ECW contingent.

JBL already had an ax to grind when it came to Meanie, though - the star had spoken candidly in interviews about how Layfield had bullied him during his time in the company. At the end of the PPV, the ECW stars and the WWE stars got in a big brawl, and JBL saw that as his chance for a receipt. Sneaking up on Meanie from behind, JBL punched him hard in the face, bloodying him badly in a manner that required him to get 12 stitches. Meanie later said he was particularly surprised, as the cowardly JBL shook his hand without incident prior to the show.

In the interest of fairness, it should be noted that this is the one instance for which JBL actually apologized, and he and The Blue Meanie have since buried the hatchet. Still, this violent attack perfectly demonstrates what kind of person Layfield is.
