10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Jinder Mahal

9. Jinder Is Actually Canadian

Amidst all that Punjabi partying on the most recent episode of SmackDown, WWE didn't once mention the fact that Jinder Mahal is actually a native of Calgary, Canada. Ok, so that doesn't really fit into the rich Indian prince gimmick Mahal has going on, but it's still the truth.

Mahal has Indian heritage, of course, yet his formative years were spent growing up in the same city as the infamous Hart family. In other words, WWE want to completely ignore his Canadian upbringing and focus squarely on the 'Indo' part of his Indo-Canadian background. That's cool, but a quick Google search reveals it.

Having Mahal come out waving the Maple Leaf flag and saying 'eh' after every sentence probably wouldn't get him the same heat as wearing a turban or flaunting his Indian wealth. This is something Jinder himself realises, he's said as much during several interviews. Appears he picked the right stereotype to run with!
