10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Ken Shamrock

5. He Took One Of The Sickest Chairshots Of All Time

The Benoit murders/suicide put a spotlight on the head trauma that professional wrestlers have been forced to deal with as part of their jobs, and the result was that WWE has taken steps to make things safer in that regard. Make no mistake, though - even if the company's higher-ups didn't know the full extent of concussion damage until after Benoit's death, they still knew that blows to the head weren't exactly good for their talent. Nevertheless, such blows - especially chairshots - became a staple of WWE programming in the 1990s, and one of the most vicious was delivered to Ken Shamrock. During his feud with The Rock, Shamrock challenged the Intercontinental Champion to hit him with a steel chair, and the results can be seen above. In all honesty, no matter what injuries Shamrock received, he's lucky he didn't suffer worse. WWE should have known better at the time, and they certainly do now. This won't be showing up in any clip packages anytime soon.
