10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Kevin Owens
2. His Lacklustre Universal Championship Reign
Finally reaching the top of the mountain and being given the illustrious World Championship ball to run with is the stuff of just about every professional wrestler's dreams.
And, sure enough, the moment KO managed to see off Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Big Cass - with a little assist from The Game - on Monday Night Raw in 2016 looked and felt like the culmination of years of blood, sweat, and tears from one of the industry's finest independent performers.
It's just a shame the whole thing pretty much peaked on night one.
While WWE will never why away from noting that KO is most definitely a former Universal Champion whenever the time calls for him to put over whoever their new favourite play thing is, it's rare you'll hear much mention of the various matches, angles, and programmes that went down throughout the fairly overshadowed work he put into that first and, at time of writing, only reign with a WWE top strap.
The fact Chris Jericho, now of AEW fame, was a large part of the better parts of said run likely has a little to do with it. But even his various throwdowns with Rollins and Reigns haven't been given much attention over the years... and the less said about that Goldberg squashing the better.
