10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Maryse
9. She Was On A Playboy Calendar
Much like fellow future Total Divas co-star C.J. 'Lana' Perry, Maryse began her career under the studio spotlights working as a beauty model. Indeed, it was almost certainly her ability to shine in front of a camera rather than any natural charisma or wrestling talent which attracted WWE to her in the first instance, after she participated in the company's 2006 Diva Search (the same competition which blessed us with the likes of Eve Torres and Rosa Mendes).
Despite being hired ostensibly on the basis of her looks, it's safe to say some of her raunchier photo-shoots no longer harmonise with WWE's admittedly inconstant PG image of 2016.
Whereas Lana's risqué past is largely obscure and limited to items which sound like something straight out of The Viz (The Rigid Hardware Calendar, anyone?), Maryse went all out featuring in Playboy's 2007 Girls of Canada annual - whilst still a star in WWE.
As far as racy modelling goes, it's hard to go more mainstream.
