10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Maryse

2. She Was Stalked By A Member Of Creative

There are many bad things one can say about WWE's Creative Team. So let's.

In 2004, Bryan Alvarez reported that at least one member of the writing brain trust had gained access to all the contact details of every female on the company's roster, with the intention of discussing angles and story-lines with the talent. Apparently this extended to late-night phone calls with anything but wrestling on the agenda. Strange how creative minds operate.

The miscreant was duly given his marching orders, but seemingly one bad apple can spoil the bunch as in 2010 similar incidents began to occur between Maryse and another member of the writing staff. Reportedly, the offender persistently courted the Canadian, and after repeated rebuffs threatened to bury her husband (in terms of his career, at least).

Sadly, he didn't do a very good job of it, but that this sort of behaviour is so common in the company suggests that there is something rotten at the core of WWE's writing fraternity. It's likely to prevent the women's division from ever truly blossoming.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
