10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Matt Bloom

1. Lord Tensai Was A Giant Flop

In March 2012 it was reported that Bloom was WWE-bound. He denied the reports on Twitter, but then on March 19th he appeared in a vignette on Raw under the new gimmick of Lord Tensai. On April 2nd he re-debuted, accompanied to the ring by Sakamoto, and destroyed Alex Riley. Over the next few weeks Tensai beat everyone who was put in his path, including top stars like John Cena and CM Punk. It was an impressive push, even if Tensai was failing to make a connection with the crowd and the matches inevitably fell flat. Not long after beating Cena, the favour was returned and Tensai's winning streak was over. After that it was months of jobbing for Bloom. He lost to everyone and, by December, he was reduced to nothing more than a comedy act. He even lost to longtime loser Santino Marella, who called him Fat Albert. To go from beating Cena to being the punchline to a Santino joke in less than a year had to be demoralising for the former A-Train. Bloom was brought in to be a top heel but it just didn't work. Post-Tensai he formed a dancing tag team with Brodus Clay. Bloom must have had flashbacks to 2001 and his team with Scotty II Hotty. As much as WWE wanted to push him, he just didn't have the tools to make it on top.
