9. The Time He Almost Killed Chris Benoit
As part of his push on Smackdown, A-Train got to wrestle the likes of The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Chris Benoit. These were tests for A-Train, who had spent the majority of his career in tag teams or in reduced singles roles. Now he was being asked to go ten or fifteen minutes with some of the best wrestlers in the world. There was a scary incident during A-Train's match with Chris Benoit at No Mercy 2003. Although the match was probably his best singles outing to that point, his heart must have skipped a beat when he managed to drop Benoit on his head and neck on a steel chair. The frightening moment came when Bloom had Benoit held in a military press. Because of the sweat on both wrestlers and Benoit's attempt to counter the move, he slipped and his the mat/chair with a sickening thud. Panicking, A-Train bent down and very loudly asked Benoit if he was OK. This was A-Train's last big PPV singles match before being traded to Raw in March 2004 (he was released in November of that year to little fanfare). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTKi-ZJ9g20
