10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Melina

7. THAT Ring Entrance

This could go either way. Melina's first run with WWE was full of matches that overachieved and glowing references from legendary performers, with Bret Hart once calling her one of the best wrestlers in the world. All good and true, but the most memorable part of Melina v1.0? Her ring entrance.

It was definitely a product of its time. Melina would sashay her way to the ring, a picture of confidence, before grabbing her right leg and pulling it up onto the ring apron. The left leg soon followed as Melina showed off her impressive dexterity, performing the splits as she slid under the bottom rope. It didn't leave a lot to the imagination.

To ram home how popular this entrance was, one YouTube user deemed it exciting enough to upload a 38-minute long video that contains nothing but Melina's entrances. The internet is a strange place.

The WWE of 2020 is a very different place to that of 2005, and Melina's hyper-sexualised entrance may well find itself resigned to the past. At the very least it will be toned down, with the belts masquerading as mini-skirts another thing left behind.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
