10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Melina

3. Actually, Her Entire Heat With Trish

While their real-life issues never escalated to the point of abduction, Melina's dislike of Trish Stratus is very well-documented. Backstage heat between performers isn't new, but this went beyond tit for tat insults and professional jealousy, putting jobs on the line and a showcase WrestleMania match in jeopardy.

What are your memories from WrestleMania 27? The Miz acting as the third wheel in his main event championship defence? Undertaker and Triple H putting on a real banger? Heath Slater selling the KO Punch? All true 'Mania moments, but it is the graceful frame of Snooki flying through the air that lingers longest in the memory. Maybe. Possibly.

The six-person mixed tag match that took up three minutes towards the end of that event is largely lost to history, the sort of match that only the most obsessive of fans will remember. The match saw John Morrison team with Snooki and Trish Stratus to take on Dolph Ziggler and LayCool, but it was our old buddy Melina who had the biggest influence. Melina was apparently distraught at not being in the match herself and put the blame on Trish, leading to her then-boyfriend Morrison refusing to discuss spots and ideas for the match.

You'd think that Melina would be more annoyed at, you know, Snooki. Trish Stratus is and was a legitimate icon in the annals of WWE history. Melina allowed insecurity and frustration to get the better of her and, as the story goes, dragged Morrison into it as well.

Trish Stratus is untouchable WWE royalty in the modern age, and these issues are best left in the past.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
