10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Shane McMahon

6. Rob Van Dam Did The Corner To Corner Dropkick Before Him

One of the most famous in-ring maneuvers that Shane did during his WWE career was the "coast to coast" move, where he'd jump across the length of the ring from one turnbuckle to another and hit a dropkick into his opponent's face. It was a move Shane started debuted at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001, but Rob Van Dam did it first in ECW. I remember when RVD did it because there was so much hype about it on the internet. It was at ECW Heatwave 2000 and people were wondering what the "Van Terminator" was. That's when he busted the move out and it drew a huge reaction from the crowd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=higpzCf6-Zw When Shane did it on WWE TV a few months later, a lot of people thought he came up with the move. Then RVD ended up in WWE in 2001 and didn't do it right away (presumably since it was now 'Shane's move'), but eventually he did. It likely didn't bother RVD because he's a laid-back guy anyway, but it upset some of his fans that feel like he should have been given more credit for coming up with and using the move before Shane did.
