10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Sin Cara
2. The Lucha Dragons
The Lucha Dragons in their NXT run became a firm favourite of the Full Sail faithful - then again, Bull Dempsey was over in Orlando, so it's unclear if they were just in love with the sound of their own voices (see also: The Ascension).
The Lucha Dragons were nowhere near as bad as those abysmal Road Warriors impersonators - but they were hardly a team worth celebrating. Their crowd interaction tactic fizzled out after about a fortnight, and their championship prospects followed shortly thereafter.
Sin Cara and partner Kalisto played a major part in the disaster that was the Tag Team Title match at Elimination Chamber 2015. It was, to WWE's credit, an ambitious undertaking - but with the exception of Cesaro and El Torito (!), the remaining five men weren't up to the task. Astonishingly, it was the more talented Kalisto who damaged the Dragons' reputation on the night. Instead of contributing to the match, he spent the vast majority of it hiding on the upper walls of the mesh.
Cara and Kalisto were separated during the 2016 brand split. That WWE elected to draft in the Headbangers, rather than reunite them, should tell you how the Lucha Dragons were regarded by management.
