10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Elimination Chamber
8. Christian's Last Stand (2014)
Although it's been more than a year and a half since the last Elimination Chamber match, it's been three years since the WWE Championship was on the line in the bout.
The last time it happened, Daniel Bryan's Yes! Movement was in full effect, with the fans demanding to see their favorite superstar headline WrestleMania. WWE hadn't quite gotten there yet, so the headlining match at the show of shows was still scheduled to be Randy Orton versus Batista. As a consolation match, Bryan got a shot at Orton in the Elimination Chamber, along with John Cena, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Christian.
If Christian's name seems out of place in a main event in 2014, it's no surprise. After a relatively injury-free career, the star found himself frequently on the shelf for his last couple of years as an active wrestler. Between 2012 and 2014 he missed a lot of time, and the Elimination Chamber represented his last major match. He eliminated Sheamus before falling prey to Daniel Bryan, and then a month later, another concussion forced his retirement.
