10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Undertaker

1. He Killed His Parents

Somebody murdered The Undertaker’s parents in a fire at a funeral home, which was a pretty d**k move on their part. We were lead to believe the culprit was Taker's evil, pyromaniac, basement dweller of a brother who started the fire while he was out doing his chores. This backstory gave some extreme heat to the sibling rivalry, and made Taker a bit of a sympathetic character. Then that was all reversed just for the hell of it.

It the most flippant murder confession in television history, The Undertaker admitted that it was he who started the fire that killed his own parents. On the episode of Raw the day after Judgment Day 98, Taker took the mic to let us know:

"I set that fire. I set it because you were weak as a child, and you’re weak now. And we have no room for the weak. Only the strong shall survive."

Lucky for him, this went down on the same episode that Austin victimized Vince McMahon for firing him the night before. Perhaps because a man held a gun to his former boss's head on national TV, the police forgot all about the murder confession on the show, and instead focused their attention on Austin...and then completely forgot about that incident as well.

Still, though, it’s kind of incredible to think that Undertaker has been cheered at all after divulging that little anecdote from his life. Heels do some pretty terrible things that we can later forgive, you know, like distracting a ref, or using the ropes for leverage. But two attempted murders, and two actual ones? That seems to take things just a bit too far. Wrestling fans, though, are a forgiving bunch.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
