10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Undertaker

2. He Attempted To Murder Paul Bearer

One year prior to the Hassan match, The Undertaker had to “do the right thing” at The Great American Bash 2004, but what the hell exactly was the right thing?

Weeks before the pay-per-view, the Dudley Boyz and Paul Heyman kidnapped Bearer. Their master plan was to keep him captive until the show and force Taker to do that right thing, which was….lose? Join their stable? Just be more personable to them backstage? Well, there were no titles on the line, and the three didn’t want any sort of monetary ransom so...we really don’t know what their master plan was.

However, what was clear is that they planned to kill Bearer if Taker didn’t cooperate, but they made things a bit more complicated than necessary. Instead of just buying a gun or something, Heyman rented a cement truck, had it driven to the arena, hired some people to build a concrete crypt, and then trapped Bearer in there with the threat of burying him alive.

Luckily Taker won, and got to the handle controlling the flow of cement in the nick of time. But then for absolutely no good reason he pulled the handle himself, letting out the concrete, thereby murdering Bearer. He did this while as a babyface.

Even though we later found out Bearer survived, it was clearly an attempt on his life. Somehow the police have forgotten about this incident, as Taker has yet to be charged with the crime. Or perhaps he got off on some sort of technicality.

The only thing that’s worse than attempted murder is a straight up murder...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
