10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About the Universal Championship

4. The Fiend's Custom Belt Was Terrible

WWE has had its fair share of questionable championship designs, but The Fiend’s custom Universal Title might just take the cake.

Introduced in late 2019, the belt was meant to embody the eerie, horror-movie aesthetic of Bray Wyatt’s alter ego. Instead, it looked like something straight out of a Halloween clearance sale. Rather than a traditional championship, it featured a grotesque, stretched-out image of The Fiend’s face-bulging eyes, stitched mouth, and all—printed onto leather. It was less prestigious title and more nightmare fuel.

Then came the price tag. WWE Shop listed the belt for a staggering $6,499, instantly making it one of the most expensive championship replicas in WWE history. Fans were baffled. Was this a serious attempt at merchandising, or just an elaborate prank?

While custom belts can work (John Cena’s spinner title, for example) The Fiend’s version lacked any real symbolism or elegance. It was quickly phased out after Wyatt lost the championship, and WWE has wisely avoided putting a wrestler’s face on a belt ever since. Probably for the best.
