10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Tough Enough

In-ring beatings, psychological breakdowns and disgraced trainers from WWE's dream-making show.

The original season of Tough Enough made for truly fascinating viewing. While the secret was out and the business was already exposed, it was still incredible to see WWE continue to peel back the curtain and explain the mechanics of the business a little bit more. Watching Tough Enough you could learn how to execute moves, what it was like backstage at WWE events and also what WWE stars were like out of character (wrestlers frequently made guest appearances on the show). You never knew who would turn up on Tough Enough. You also never knew just what would happen. The show was genuinely unpredictable and was host to a lot of memorable incidents. While it's unknown just how much of it was actually scripted (the company clearly knew who their winner was before the show started) there was a certain air of spontaneity about it that was lacking on Raw or Smackdown. Of course, not all of these unpredictable incidents were welcomed by WWE. They may have made for great television at the time, but they cost them in the long run. Reputations and careers have been ruined or cut short because of Tough Enough. WWE may want to promote it as a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to live a dream but, for some, the dream was closer to a nightmare.
