10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Tough Enough

10. The Triple H Speech

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4DWg8OHSo0 Oh man, the Triple H speech from Tough Enough season one. This did nobody any favours. You could see the intention: take a top star and lecture the rookies on the passion it takes to make it in the business. The fact that Triple H was a heel at the time made it even better. In theory. In practice, Triple H just comes across like a bit of a jerk. He shows them how to bump and punch with intensity, which is fine. But the way he's lecturing the 'kids', you would think he was a twenty year veteran like a Terry Funk. When Triple H delivered the speech, he had only really been a top guy for a year or so. If Triple H was to give the speech now, after a further fifteen years of ring wars, it would have more weight to it. But back then, it just looked like another transparent attempt by WWE to make The Game look like the biggest badass on the planet. It failed. The speech made for good TV, sure, and Triple H made some good points. But it said more about Triple H's opinion of himself than it did about the omiture of the show.
