10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Wade Barrett
2. John Cena Torpedoed His Initial Main Event Push
The Nexus really could have been something special, if only they had've been booked better and had they not ran into bona fide career-killer John cena, who at that point was at the height of his 'powers'. The Nexus had looked dominant on television, and were starting to really get over as a force to be reckoned with, during the summer of 2010. Rolling into SummerSlam, they were favourites to take down Team WWE and establish themselves as genuine competition to those that were already stars. Of course, it didn't really happen like that, did it? No, Wade and co. hadn't counted on John Cena no-selling a DDT ON THE CONCRETE FLOOR, dusting himself down and eliminating both Barrett and the promising Justin Grabriel in the final stages of the PPV main event. After that, the Nexus were as good as done, just a couple of months into their run. But Cena still that pesky Barrett to take of. And take care of him he did at TLC in a Chairs Match main event, where the leader of the Cenation put the final nail in Nexus/Barrett's coffin after months of bad booking before literallty burying... ...in an avalanche of chairs.
