10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Wade Barrett

6. He Almost Named Himself After A Road House Character

Stu Bennett went through a few names before landing on Wade Barrett. The first winner he came up with while down in FCW was 'Lawrence Knight'. The name was suitably pretentious and English-sounding, but Barrett didn't win a match for six months so figured it was probably time for a change. He choose Wade after rugby player Wade Dooley and then chose, actually was given, the second name Garrett from 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes. So Wade Garrett it was. Well, would have been, had a Google search not brought to Wade's attention the fact that it was also the name of Sam Elliot's character in 80s man movie classic Road House. Truth is, Wade's had many different names, from Bad News, to King, to Stu Sanders in developmental. At the end of the day, he'll always be Wade Barrett. We might as well forget the extras.
