10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania 28

Sheamus winning the 2012 Royal Rumble match was certainly a surprise. After all, rumors suggested that Randy Orton and Chris Jericho were scheduled to challenge for the World titles at WrestleMania, and one of those men was expected to win. Still, Sheamus's victory ensured he'd be part of the title picture, and he soon decided to take on Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan, who won the title at TLC 2011, was only supposed to be a short-term champion, but his "obnoxious vegan" persona quickly clicked with fans. WWE higher-ups noticed that Bryan was delivering, so they kept the title on him, letting him walk into WrestleMania 28 as the defending World Heavyweight Champion. So how was this showdown handled? Bryan started the bout with a good-luck kiss from his girlfriend, AJ Lee... then was immediately hit with the Brogue Kick and pinned. The hardcore WrestleMania fanbase, who were vociferously pro-Bryan, were absolutely outraged, and Sheamus was practically booed out of the building. The show was nearly killed, with fans only getting back into the action when The Undertaker took on Triple H some time later. Given that Bryan would eventually become one of WWE's most beloved superstars and that his huge victories at WrestleMania XXX made him a legend in the business, odds are that WWE doesn't want fans to spend too much time thinking about the fate that befell him two years earlier.
