10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania 28
5. Zack Ryder Was A Fool
Few stories of wasted talent can compare to the sad tale of Zack Ryder. After getting himself over via a YouTube show, Ryder became one of the most popular wrestlers on the entire roster. Eventually, WWE had no choice but to give him a shot at Dolph Ziggler's United States Championship, and a subsequent victory and run with the belt. Ryder's push quickly ended at the hands of Kane, who took to brutalizing "Long Island Iced Z" in order to make his friend, John Cena, angry. Kane helped Jack Swagger beat Ryder for the title, then threatened Ryder's crush, Eve Torres, until she was driven into Cena's arms. Ryder, wheelchair-bound and crushed, was left to look pathetic, while Cena moved on to his program with The Rock and Torres turned heel. Finally, Ryder healed and started campaigning to be added to the WrestleMania card. He succeeded, winning a place on Team Teddy Long in a 12-man tag bout. Ryder almost scored the deciding fall, but when he made the mistake of trusting a seemingly-contrite Eve Torres, it all fell apart. Torres got in the ring to encourage Ryder to deliver the Broski Boot...then hit him with a low blow, costing him the match, making him look like a gullible fool, and once and for all removing any reason for fans to care about or respect him.
