8. WCW Fired Him For Blading

King of the Road Uncensored 1995
WWE Network

In March '95, the braintrust at World Championship Wrestling fired Dustin Rhodes for bleeding on a pay-per-view named Uncensored. Rhodes wasn't the only one released: he was joined by Barry Darsow (his opponent in the ill-fated 'King Of The Road' match) and Mike Graham (the bout's agent).

Tony Schiavone said during a recent episode of his podcast that Graham was never instructed to stop Rhodes or Darsow from blading. The match took place on a PPV with no rules, but the disorganised structure of WCW struck again and Turner chiefs felt someone had to be punished for using blood when they had handed down a strict policy banning it.

Hilariously, WCW punished everyone involved after the fact. The match was pre-taped, yet they waited until after Uncensored to start terminating contracts.

In his mid-20s, Dustin was released by WCW for the lamest of reasons. Schiavone even hinted that Turner top brass told the wrestling company to reduce their annual budget, so the termination of Rhodes, Darsow, and Graham was convenient and done for financial reasons.
