9. It Was Dusty Who Suggested He Leave For WCW

An interview with Wrestling Inc. revealed so much about Dustin's first stint in the WWF and subsequent departure for WCW. As it turns out, Dustin wasn't keen on leaving the McMahon empire at first, but his dad Dusty convinced him that it was the right thing to do.

McMahon wasn't too happy with Dustin's release request, yet still granted the young star permission to terminate his contract and follow in his father's footsteps. Proving just how highly he thought of Dustin, Vince told Dusty that he would someday make his son a star if he had the chance.

Things could have turned out very different had Dustin refused his father's wishes to go with him to Atlanta. There's a good chance the Goldust character would never have been born years later, or at least not given to Rhodes.

Leaving the WWF for WCW seemed like a safe bet for Dustin in 1991.
