5. Sheamus Was A Goldust Pet Project

Another gem (this time from a shoot interview with In The Ring), the fact that Sheamus was a pet project of Goldust comes as a slight surprise. When the 'Celtic Warrior' crash-landed on the failed ECW brand in 2009, WWE officials asked Goldust to take care of the Irishman and help prepare him for bigger and better things on Raw.

Goldust says Sheamus was easy to work with, because he had such a thirst for knowledge and wanted to be the best he could be. That made Goldust's task simple, and he took pride in the fact that Sheamus went on to become WWE Champion as quickly as he did. That Sheamus victory over John Cena in December, 2009 was almost like a win for Goldust too.

The common story is that Sheamus started out as a Triple H pet project. He may have trained with 'The Game', yet most of his early months were spent sitting under the learning tree of Goldust. It's pretty obvious that the veteran did a fine job readying Sheamus to fulfill WWE's plans.
