10 Things You Didn't Know About James Ellsworth
2. He Came Up With His Name And Catchphrase
Ellsworth is actually the middle name of the world's favorite jobber, and not his last name. When he found out he would be getting a match on Raw, he was given the opportunity to pick his own name, and ended up choosing "Ellsworth." Prior to his first WWE appearance, he'd been going by "Pretty" Jimmy Dream on the independent scene.
He went into the match knowing he was going to be absolutely manhandled, and that his entire job that night was to make Braun Strowman look as devastating as possible. However, the company also asked him if he could talk on the mic, and when he said he could, they offered him the opportunity to do so. That's a strange move for jobbers, but it gave him another opportunity to impress.
He knew he was only going to get to throw two punches against his much larger opponent, which would be his entire offense. Because of that, he says the thought of “Any man with two hands has a fighting chance” popped into his head.
He asked management if it was okay to say the line, and they approved it. It's turned out well for him, as both Chris Jericho and Eric Bischoff put over the line, and prowrestlingtees.com is currently selling a shirt with that phrase on it.
