10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2010
3. Edge And Chris Jericho Argued With Cena On SummerSlam Finish

Ah, The Nexus. Thing started off so well, with their shocking invasion of Raw at the close of the June 7th 2010 broadcast. Taking apart John Cena, CM Punk, Luke Gallows, Justin Roberts, the stable of NXT competitors also dismantled the ring and caused other mayhem. It was a powerful angle and a big statement.
Clearly, these men were to be taken seriously. They were a threat to WWE. But not to John Cena, apparently. At the end of the Nexus versus Team WWE elimination match at SummerSlam, Cena survived a DDT on the floor to come back and easily beat Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett. It was a senseless decision that did irreparable damage to the Nexus guys.
Many online and in the wrestling press couldn't believe WWE had booked such a short-sighted finish. It emerged in December 2013 that Edge and Chris Jericho were dead set against the finish and even argued with Cena about it. Speaking on Y2J's Talk is Jericho podcast, they had this to say:
Chris Jericho: It was Team WWE vs. Team Nexus, and the finish boiled down to and in there, but it was Cena against a couple of them. John wanted to do things a certain way and we told him 'you're wrong'. He did it anyways, and it sucked. And then after he came over to us and said 'I should have listened to you, but I wasn't seeing it that way'. Edge: I remember. I was like, fine I'm out of the match by that point. Chris Jericho: He wanted to get DDT'd on the floor by Barrett, then kick out and beat them both. And you and I were like, that's the dumbest thing. That's just throwing it away for no reason. Edge: They should have gone over because they were so hot. Chris Jericho: We were fighting for Barrett to go over. And where's Wade Barrett now?.
Had Cena chosen to listen to the veterans' advice, we might now be discussing the Nexus as one of the best stables in WWE history. As it is, the whole thing goes down as a colossal disappointment.
