10 Things You Didn’t Know About Jim Ross
6. WWE 24/7 Innovator
Another little nugget that JR provided in that 2007 lecture
at MIT was that WWE 24/7 had in fact been his idea.
WWE 24/7, fully entitled WWE 24/7 Classics On Demand, was a subscription service that featured footage from the company’s colossal archives, spawning content such as the brilliant Legends of Wrestling roundtable discussions, as well as re-airings of original classic shows.
And as JR revealed at MIT, he had been the brains behind the operation and he’d also “had the idea to purchase all kinds of tape libraries".
The service was eventually disbanded after almost a decade in January 2014, as it had essentially been replaced by a certain Network that you’re now likely very familiar with.
Still, if JR was having thoughts of amalgamating tape
libraries and distributing them digitally as far back as 2004, it sounds like him and his ideas might have been an awfully long way ahead of their time.
