10 Things You Didn’t Know About Jim Ross
5. He Featured In A Political Campaign
Okay, the title on this one may be a little misleading. But
whether or not he was aware of his involvement, JR was in fact featured in a "Peter Schiff for Senator" ad during Schiff’s bid to win the Republican
nomination for the 2010 US Senate election in Connecticut.
The reason for this wrestling overlap was because Schiff’s rival for the Republican nomination was the wife of the owner of the WWE, Linda McMahon. And the ad in question was designed to paint Linda in as poor a light as possible, so what better way of achieving that then showing a clip of Linda kicking JR in the old family jewels five times in the short space of a 30 second ad?
The clip itself came from the 10 October 2005 showing of Monday Night Raw, in which JR had been kayfabe fired for offering the McMahons a sub-standard apology. If that sounds a little unfair, that’s because it very much was.
But this wouldn’t be JR’s only cameo appearance outside of the world of wrestling…
