10 Things You Didn’t Know About Stephanie McMahon
1. She Is The Driving Force Behind "Connor's Cure"
In 2014, World Wrestling Entertainment mourned the loss of Connor Michalek, a young boy they had met through the Make-A-Wish foundation. A big fan of former WWE World Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan, Connor touched every man and woman that worked in front of and behind the scenes for the company. His backstage visits brought smiles to the faces of the talent and officials, proving that even with his condition, Medulloblastoma, a rare tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord, he had the ability to make others feel good. "If you talked to Connor, you couldn't help but fall in love with him," Bryan told WWE.com.
Following his heartbreaking passing, Stephanie and husband Paul "Triple H" Levesque created the "Connor's Cure" fund aimed at fighting childhood illness, including pediatric brain and spinal cancer. It will also support research and medical care for children and their families. As a mother, Stephanie understands the love for a child. She also understands that no parent should outlive their child.
Through Connor's Cure, she can help do everything possible to make sure that does not happen. The newly established foundation is not the only charity Stephanie is involved in. In 2013, she became an honorary board member for the Special Olympics and has done a great deal to not only strengthen the relationship between WWE and that organization but also to spread the word about the cause. Coupled with the tremendous work the company already does with Make-A-Wish and Suzanne G. Komen, Stephanie has laid the groundwork for WWE to be an entertainment company that not only entertains fans across the globe but gives back to those in need.
Whenever the opportunity presents itself for a billion dollar organization to make the world a better place and they capitalize on that opportunity, it makes you extremely proud to be associated with or support said company.
