10 Things You Didn’t Know About TJ Perkins
2. Josh Mathews Incident
Perkins was involved in another unusual incident during his later days in TNA, though again this doesn’t seem to be entirely his fault.
To summarise the basic gist of this one, TNA wanted Perkins to portray a character with some kind of personality disorder. Perkins, who has a family member with a similar disorder, was understandably uncomfortable with this. So it was allegedly agreed that the story would be dropped, and yet later that night on commentary a reference was made to that same personality disorder angle.
Perkins says he then took to social media to make a point of stressing that he wasn’t comfortable with the story, which incurred a response from Mathews.
The Tweets have since been deleted, but Perkins diplomatically says that Mathews “probably spoke without thinking” and that “I think he kind of knew that he screwed up the way that he expressed himself because it was not going to look good”.
While the exact details on the content of Mathews’ response remain rather hard to come by, judging by these comments on the incident from reddit, it certainly didn’t paint Mathews in a positive light at all.
