Fans with an eye for small details may have noticed that the Intercontinental Title looked a bit beat up towards the end of the '80s. The one held by Honky Tonk Man, in particular, wasn't quite as shiny as the one gifted to Randy Savage in 1986. Why? Randy had a fondness for Brasso polish, that's why.

According to Bruce Prichard and others, Savage was obsessed with keeping the title in great condition. He could often be found backstage polishing the gold plates and making sure they were extra shiny for the cameras. This nightly routine ended up damaging the metal, stripping paint and (ironically) removing sheen from the championship.

The red WWF logo was chipped badly, the blue paint on the globe design flaked off and the gold plates had more of a silver feel when Honky was holding the belt. Mid-way through Honky's 454-day reign, Reggie Parks solved the issue by crafting a new set of plates for the title.

Brasso is still on WWE's banned substances list. Only kidding.
