10 Things You Didn’t Know About WWE WrestleMania

9. It Almost Had A Horrendous Name

It's impossible to imagine Vince McMahon bellowing anything other than, "Welcome to WrestleMania" in-ring before the iconic 'Mania III show from 1987. Before that, it'd be impossible to picture WrestleMania being called anything other than WrestleMania, but it bloody well almost happened.

Legendary ring announcer Howard Finkel suggested that the then-WWF call their latest creation "The Colossal Tussle". Read that again, and just you try to stop your head from shaking. 'The Fink' was great, but that name was the drizzling sh*ts.

The Colossal Tussle 39 does not sound like the kind of show that'd be promoted in 2023. Hell, WWE might. not have reached the second one had McMahon dared to go along with Finkel's pitch. "Welcome to The Colossal Tussle" sounds like the opening to a...specific type of movie exclusively reserved for adults, and definitely the kind of thing you'd be ashamed to have in your browsing history.

Well, it's there now. Sorry!
