10 Things You Didn't Know About AEW Double Or Nothing

8. Pro Wrestling IS An Action Movie

Unlike its predecessor, Stadium Stampede II wasn't entirely cinematic, a Sammy Guevara suggestion to Tony Khan seemingly the reason for this. Instead, the bout spilt into Daily's Place, concluding in front of the live, albeit capped, audience as The Inner Circle triumphed over The Pinnacle.

An observable discrepancy between the two was the second's refined fighting sequences. Whereas Stadium Stampede I was shot more like a wild brawl, AEW wanted to be different something more precise, resulting in a stunt coordinator being brought in from the John Wick franchise to help make such sequences flow more naturally.

Said Chris Jericho, who contested many of these sequences with MJF, during the post-Double or Nothing 2021 media scrum (h/t Fightful):-

“So, we were able to, like I said, change the tone. We brought in one of the stunt co-ordinators who works on the John Wick movies to help us with some of the fight scenes to make them a little bit more like an action movie. Because we think like wrestlers, and he thinks like a cinematic fight scene guy, so putting it together was tremendous. Then the craziest part was actually propelling down that scoreboard. Which was pretty scary, but once we took that little leap off the edge, it was super exhilarating and you’d be hard-pressed to find any other five guys in wrestling to do that.“
