10 Things You Didn't Know About Bam Bam Bigelow

10. Bam Bam Wasn't Excited About Facing Doink & Dink At 'Mania X

By WrestleMania X in 1994, the original heel Doink The Clown character was long gone, and the gimmick was now exclusively used as lower mid-card comedy relief, designed mainly to excite young children and give fans a break in between main matches. Needless to say, the babyface Doink was an aberration, and many fans responded in kind with delightful chants such as, 'Kill the clown'! It was a unique time for the World Wrestling Federation, one which had serious wrestling from the likes of Bret Hart interspersing dramatically with cartoon-like gimmicks and hokey storylines. Bam Bam Bigelow and his 'main squeeze' Luna Vachon were set to collide with Doink and Dink - the clown's diminutive sidekick - at 'Mania X, but according to many who attended the fan signing events prior to the big show, Bigelow was less-than-excited about the prospect of working the bout, and wasn't afraid to let anybody who would listen know it. Ever the professional, Bigelow went through with the match, but wasn't too enthused about his role on the biggest show of the year. Maybe he should have simply been pleased to get a spot on the card, something which had eluded him before.
