7. Bigelow Was Turning Heads Before He Was Even Trained
Attending a television taping for the AWA promotion in Atlantic City in the mid-80's, The Blue Meanie was a young wrestling fan who couldn't take his eyes off Scott Bigelow, standing in awe of the man's natural presence and remarkable size. Unbelievably, this was shortly before Bigelow had actually made his full professional debut, and he was instead attending the show alongside his trainer, Larry Sharpe. According to the Meanie, even though Bam Bam was simply standing in the corner, fans couldn't stop staring at him, and it was right there that The Blue Meanie knew Bigelow had something which could help make him a top star in the wrestling industry. Trying to be inconspicuous didn't come easily to the man, who stood out like the proverbial sore thumb amongst any crowd of people. It wouldn't be long before Bam Bam was appearing as 'Crusher Yurkov' in World Class Championship Wrestling, all the while making a name for himself in other promotions as Bam Bam Bigelow. It's crazy to think back to a time such as this, when one wrestler could play multiple characters in the US alone, and nobody would bat an eyelid.
