10 Things You Didn't Know About Bash At The Beach
8. Outside The Comfort Zone
It's not all that common for professional wrestling events to be held outdoors, however, the perfect time to do such a thing would obviously be in the summer.
WCW realised this as the 1995 Bash At The Beach took place at the beach in Huntington Beach, California. This marked the first time in history that one of their pay-per-views, which they had been promoted since 1983 under the Jim Crockett Promotions name, had been held outside an arena.
However, it didn't mark the only time WCW did such a thing. From 1996 to 1999, the company's Road Wild event held in August (or Hog Wild, as it was called in 1996) was hosted outdoors at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
A simple change like this adds a different dynamic to these shows, regardless of how well received they end up being overall. Even a bad show becomes memorable for its unique setting.
