10 Things You Didn't Know About Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

1. Heenan Himself Came Up With His WWF Exit

Bobby's WWF run came to an end in 1993 due to a combination of burnout and being unable to come to an agreement on a contract renewal with the company (Vince McMahon wanted him to take a 50% pay cut). There was only one logical way for the Brain to exit the WWF, and that was at the hands of his long suffering co-host, Gorilla Monsoon. During an episode of WWF Monday Night Raw, in which Heenan was providing color commentary alongside Vince McMahon, Gorilla approached the ring area, grabbed Heenan and dragged him backstage. While the Brain begged and pleaded, Monsoon threw Heenan, and his bags, onto the street. Bobby memorably stumbled around, tripping over his bag, as everything from stolen hotel towels to rolls of toilet paper tumbled out and blew in the breeze (according to Bobby's biography, Pat Patterson suggested that bras and panties should also fall out, but Bobby refused). Humiliated, Heenan gave a tearful final salute to the WWF, pulled up his collar, and walked away in the night. To this day, many fans believe that the way Heenan's WWF career ended was disrespectful and a disgrace. But what many people may not know is that it was actually Heenan's idea. Out of admiration for all of Bobby's contributions to the WWF, Vince McMahon let Bobby come up with his own exit scenario, and it was Heenan himself who pitched the idea of Gorilla throwing him out on the street. After almost a decade of threatening Heenan with "I'll have you taken out of here in a minute!", in the end Gorilla was true to his word, and the results were hysterical: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS1ESj17_Ck
