10 Things You Didn't Know About Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

4. Flair Winning The Rumble Despite Entering At #3 Was Heenan's Idea

In one of the most unforgettable performances in WWF Royal Rumble history, Ric Flair entered the 1992 Rumble as the third participant, and went on to outlast twenty nine other men to become the WWF Champion. In only the fifth Rumble, this was unprecedented. Interestingly, it was Bobby Heenan who pitched the booking idea, except Heenan's idea was to have Flair draw number one and go on to win it all. In true Vince McMahon style however, the boss tweaked the idea slightly to make it his own (and take all the credit), and instead of the #1 spot, Flair entered at #3. The idea of a superstar entering the Rumble first and being the last man standing must've stayed in Vince's head, however, because just three years later at the Royal Rumble '95, Shawn Michaels did that very thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXMgdbjvE1E
