10 Things You Didn't Know About Brian Christopher

9. Brian Technically Didn't Train To Wrestle

During his formative years, and long before he started in the industry himself, Brian looked on from the stands as his father taped episode after episode of television for his Memphis territory. It was there that Christopher got a taste for how fun performing was, and he'd study greats like Randy Savage, Rick Martel and Buddy Landel.

One of Brian's favourites was "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert. The braggart, cocksure heel feuded extensively with Jerry Lawler in the late-80s, and Brian was right there watching. Later, he'd adopt some of Gilbert's heel mannerisms for his own "Too Sexy" character.

That was it. That was Brian's training.

Seriously, he claimed that (other than watching a lot of tape and seeing wrestlers live) there was no strict training regime to undergo (he didn't even tell his father he was learning the ropes, either). After that, he was let loose in some tryout matches to mimic the best performers he'd seen. There was no wrestling school in sight.
