On December 6, 2004, Lita and Trish Stratus put on a show that has gone down in history. The two icons went toe-to-toe in the main event of WWE RAW with the Women’s Championship on the line, in a match that has become the go-to memory for anyone and everyone involved with modern-day women’s wrestling. Female wrestling was about to enter some dark days, but this famous main event was a beacon of light in the darkness.

Stratus didn’t know it at the time, but her final opponent was watching that match from the very front row. Ashleigh Fleihr didn’t know it either, as the future champion hadn’t even begun to seriously get involved in the business at this point. But history has a funny way of making fools of us all, and a future WWE Hall of Famer watched two icons of the game do their thing on a most historic night.

Charlotte was only at the show as a guest of her father, but was this the moment that the wrestling fires were lit in the heart and mind of the Nature Girl? We’ll never know, but don’t be surprised to see a WWE-produced documentary making such a claim in years to come.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
