That isn’t to say that being the spawn of the Nature Bay was awful, clearly not, but being Ric Flair’s child serves up a whole host of challenges that the average person would struggle to even approach, let alone overcome. All that stylin’ and profilin’ leave one heck of a legacy to overcome.

Contrary to popular belief, some of the hardest aspects of being a Flair child came from dad’s attentiveness and pride, as opposed to the limousine ridin’, jet flyin’, wheelin’ dealin’ and all that. When she appeared on her father’s podcast back in 2015, Flair told a story about an early volleyball practice and Ric’s insistence that she must always try her best.

It was her freshman year, and Charlotte was trying out for the team. All the new girls were going on a timed run, but when the whistle went Lady Flair decided to hang back with the older girls, to play it cool, to make some friends. She didn’t reckon on the Nature Bay, who was watching from up in the bleachers. Ric stormed down the stairs, bellowing at his daughter that she needed to get her act together, that she could run faster than that by running backwards.

Being a Flair child brings enough pressure as it is.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
