When a professional wrestler's training is mentioned, certain names spring up on a more frequent basis than others. One such name is that of Walter 'Killer' Kowalski. In 1977 the son of Polish immigrants opened a wrestling school in Malden, Massachusetts, and he would go on to be involved with the school until his health deteriorated in 2003 (Kowalski died in 2008). Interesting side not, Kowalski claimed to be the first vegetarian pro wrestler.

You could build a pretty decent roster out of the names that came out of Kowalski's school. The most high profile would be none other than Hunter Heart Helmsley himself, to whom Chyna's story would be linked all the way until her death. Aside from The Game such greats as Kofi Kingston, Eddie Edwards, Perry Saturn, Damien Sandow, Fandango, Tensai/Albert and Frankie Kazarian ran their first ropes with Kowalski.

Chyna was another name on the list of pro wrestlers to come out of the school.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
