As many readers will know, securing a job after leaving full-time education and volunteering abroad isn't exactly the easiest assignment one gets in life. The initial enthusiasm of bettering oneself through travel is slowly ebbed away, as the desperation of unemployment begins to eat away at an individual.

After returning from Central America Laurer worked a whole host of jobs. She worked as a cocktail waitress in a strip club, as well as being a 900-number chat line worker. For those who don't know, these are usually the phone numbers advertised towards the back of certain magazines.

As well as a stint as a belly dancer and time spent selling beepers, Laurer undertook a six week class in order to be a flight attendant. This may have been the secure job she was looking for, but as she travelled to take her first flight Laurer was involved in a car accident that saw her in the hospital for four days.

Throughout all of this she kept in good shape, and began to enter fitness competitions.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
